Freelance Writer
I began my working life as a research scientist and amateur historian, and from there built a career as a freelance writer for magazines and websites. Writing for the Guardian, BBC and Mental Floss, I have covered subjects ranging from proteins to Roman history to mythology. No writing challenge is off the table.
Social Media
As part of the @FolkloreThursday team on Twitter, I helped run a weekly event that drew thousands of contributors. For BEAT magazine I catalogued their entire back catalogue and organised their photo library. I also used a range of web tools to schedule Instagram posts over several months.
Scripts
Writing a short comic piece for the Papercut Theatre taught me how much I enjoy hearing my words performed aloud. Since then I have written many podcast scripts for the popular 'Previously On...' show.
